Job Overview:
As part of our team, you’ll develop, implement and measure state strategies related to overall pricing levels, rating structure, product features and underwriting strategies in order to drive top line premium, profit and growth goals for assigned states, with a focus on the Auto and Home lines. Serve as the primary source of pricing, product and underwriting knowledge of assigned states, driving cross-functional collaboration toward common strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for achieving premium, profit and growth goals for assigned states
- Develop, implement and measure state strategies in collaboration with functional partners to meet or exceed premium, profit and growth goals
- Coordinate state Financial operating plans and track progress for assigned states, including pricing, growth and profits plans designed to meet strategic objectives.
- Monitor marketplace and legislative issues and assess impact of new regulations in assigned states, developing swift responses as needed
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned state markets, including key competitors in the auto and home lines
- Act as primary source of foundational product, rating and underwriting knowledge of assigned states
- Monitor and communicate product, pricing, growth and profit performance, underwriting philosophies, financial results and underlying strategies of assigned states to internal stakeholders
- Coordinate and facilitate clear communication across state management team and with internal stakeholders as needed. Provide clear and thorough responses to inquiries from the filing team, DOIs and other internal stakeholders on topics related to assigned states
- Develop and maintain relationships with state regulatory entities and trade associations
- Develop and maintain a broad base of industry knowledge and current economic and business trends, while estimating impact of trends on assigned states
- Identify areas of opportunity and threats along with appropriate responses in support of premium, profit and growth goals in assigned states
- Collaborate on special projects related to advancement of rating plans, risk assessment models, and strategic goals as needed.
The 37.5-hour work week is scheduled from Monday through Friday, between the core hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM
A hybrid schedule will be available once trained to work independently, with three days reporting to our Lincoln, RI office and two days working from home. We welcome individuals with higher levels of experience and education. Compensation will be thoughtfully evaluated to reflect your valuable expertise.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field.
- Experience in State Management or related field or completion of Actuarial exams toward designation in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
- Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to collaborate across functional areas.
- Advanced knowledge of product pricing and ratemaking principles.
- Advanced knowledge of data sources, data retrieval processes, spreadsheet construction and other relevant analytical software applications.
- Advanced knowledge of rate review processes, as evidenced by 3 or more years’ experience, including the determination of rate level adequacy and all associated rating calculations for multiple lines of business, with emphasis on personal auto and homeowners
- Advanced knowledge, as evidenced by 3 or more years’ experience of general company product offerings, underwriting strategies, accounting, data processing, marketing, sales and claims systems
