Responsibilities 

  • Drive business value by transforming data and analytics into actionable insights
  • Serve as a liaison between business users and technical resources
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen and understanding of insurance concepts
  • Review new and existing data sources to ensure integrity of data collection and utilization
  • Write SQL or other querying code to extract and manipulate data from database systems
  • Design and implement data management procedures, including cleaning and organizing raw data and writing technical requirements
  • Perform data profiling to identify and understand anomalies and errors and provide timely resolutions
  • Identify and analyze significant trends that affect the organization and their key drivers to optimize business decisions
  • Utilize business intelligence tools to design, construct, test, and deploy self-service reports and visualizations
  • Assist business users by sharing insights, providing supporting details, making recommendations, and measuring results
  • Ensure accuracy of data results and analytic methods through testing and validation of underlying report data
  • Translate and summarize data results into written reports, tables, graphs and charts to convey information to management
  • Perform ongoing monitoring and refinement of analytics and metrics
  • Provide advanced technical support for analytics consumers
  • Committed to continuous professional improvement and displays a desire to learn the new and different (through conferences, publications, courses, local academia and meetups)
  • Promote collaboration with other business intelligence teams and encouraging reuse of artifacts
  • Follow applicable enterprise wide data standards, policies and processes are executed and observed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Math
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Experience with data warehouse principles
  • Experience with PowerBI or other data visualization software
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodology tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Knowledge of Snowflake Data Warehouse preferred
  • Knowledge of life insurance principles a plus
