Our Actuarial Department in Lincoln RI is seeking a Product Owner. This position is responsible for maximizing business value and representing the department in the creation and delivery of actuarial products. The selected individual will be accountable for providing product vision and customer value, based upon business justification and the prioritization of work in close alignment with the department and Amica's strategies and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership – motivate the project team, provide purpose to the scrum team, and attend Agile ceremonies.
  • Product Vision Development – collate information from various stakeholders (both internal/external) and develop an overall product vision. Must be able to communicate that vision to stakeholders and the team.
  • Roadmap Management – develop and update the product roadmap, aimed at iteratively achieving the overall vision.
  • Product Backlog Management - decompose the vision into a Product Backlog. Work with the team and the business in creating a Release and Iteration Plan based upon the Backlog.
  • Feature Delivery Management – skillful application of agile and scrum in the product roadmap execution, from Inception to Delivery; support all team members by “being agile" and make the final decision on product releases.
  • Communication – The Product Owner will communicate:
    • the product vision to critical parties and stakeholders. It is important that the business understands the solution and can engage to ensure there is successful delivery
    • with all stakeholders, ensuring that there is visibility into the program direction, schedule & progress
    • with the team to ensure that they understand what is required of them
  • Program Evangelist – propagate knowledge of the program and its benefits to stakeholders and non-stakeholders.
  • Soft Skills - develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Requires a 4-year degree and/or 3 years insurance experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Preferably a minimum of 3 years experience working with software solutions.
  • Preferably a minimum of 1 year experience working in a software development environment using Agile and scrum frameworks.
  • Preferably a minimum of 1 year experience leading a team to deliver a successful project.
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision-making and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with upper management.
