Our office located in Lincoln, RI, is seeking a student intern for our Business Intelligence Team within the Claims Executive Department. This is a paid internship, and the working hours require a minimum of 12 hours per week during the school year.

Our internship is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled full time at an accredited college/university. Desired majors/concentrations include Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Marketing (quantitative), Operations Research, Information Technology, Information Systems, or any similarly quantitative/IT intensive discipline. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will assist in the design and creation of reports and dashboards through advanced reporting tools and data analytics techniques. Primary responsibilities will include:

• Determining requirements and creating reports using MicroStrategy or other Business Intelligence tools based on Claims management needs
• Editing and enhancing existing reports and graphical dashboards
• Writing SQL to manipulate and display large quantities of data

Job Requirements:

• Experience creating reports in MicroStrategy, MS Access, Crystal Reports, QMF, or an equivalent
• Experience using SQL to query databases
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Superior analytical, mathematical, and problem solving skills
• Ability to work with a reasonable degree of independence and with a team
• Effectively manage time to handle multiple projects

Knowledge and skills that would be a plus include:

• Expertise in using probability, statistics, and predictive analytics to understand data sets
• Experience creating data visualizations in MicroStrategy, Tableau, Qlik, or an equivalent
• Familiarity with the insurance industry and claims handling processes
